De Gruchy, Jersey
Revitalising a 200 year old department storemeans carefully balancing a sense of longevity with the clean, modern aesthetics which shoppers demand.
As part of a £15m investment, De gruchy, part of the independent department store group ulster stores, appointed Caulder moore to help re-establish the store as jersey’s premier destination for fashion, beauty and accessories. The layout was reconfigured and structural changes even included moving the escalators to the middle of the store. A theme of ‘timeless elegance’ integrated De gruchy’s signature pattern with the best of the building’s architectural features and contemporary metal and glass fixtures and fittings.
Caulder moore wanted a white wood floor to complement the amazing restored corniced ceiling and contribute to the airy first floor space. Clearly this was a demanding choice for such a high footfall application, but the clients had faith in Havwoods’ recommendations after having fitted our Venture plank Amendo in their earlier ground floor refurbishment.
