Patricia Stewart has over 20 years experience specialising in interior architecture in Asia and the Middle East, as well as in Australia, and her intricate interiors have graced magazines all round the world, from Vogue to Marie Claire.
Hallmarks of her designs are contrasting elements and multiple layers, and she works with a team of architects, builders and artisans to achieve her concepts. She gains inspiration from many cultures and is particularly drawn to pieces which blend an Eastern and Western aesthetic.
In this apartment, located in a historic industrial space overlooking Sydney harbour, the footprint was redesigned and a calm palette chosen: warm greys with raw steel, recycled oak – Havwoods, of course – natural stones and handmade tiles.
Large industrial warehouse doors and expansive steel shelving units were installed to define the spaces and the whole thing was set off with Belgium linens, large scale abalone shell pendants, vintage industrial light fittings and decorative elements sourced from around the world.
