“The project is both a penthouse and guesthouse – an adaptive project inheriting both harmonies and playfulness which are intrinsically in contradiction.
Encapsulated within heritage facades and neighborhood apartments, any attempt to intervene with the existing interior spaces is limited. Thus the interior forms, selection of materials and lightings are essential to offer a dual role and yet in sync to achieve this goal.
Treated as a large blank canvas, the selection of a floor covering was pivotal to the project in emphasizing the distinctiveness of each space, yet coherently bringing them together – a visually static and in motion at play.
“The selection of Pallido Herringbone provided this unity, yet through its pattern and subtle shades within the timber planks, a sophistication echoing the interior and furniture was achieved.”
