We are super excited to announce the opening of our new Wellington showroom. A project that has been in the making for over 18 months. Nestled in the bottom of College Street in Te Aro, this central city location has been designed as a collaborative destination for the architectural and design community.
Working in partnership with Archant who has a space adjoining ours, this brings an eclectic mix of products all under the one roof; from wood flooring to veneer panels, kitchen sinks to designer wall claddings, innovative ceramic and stone surfaces to hardware.
VidaSpace opted to collaborate with the interiors team at award-winning practice Studio Pacific. The design team was led by Dorian Minty and his colleagues Penny Angell and Jason Kowalak. We worked passionately to create a truly world-class space that celebrates natural textures and finishes, displayed in a very exploratory manor that creates a sensory experience.
The large space with ultra-high ceilings was stripped back to raw concrete on all surfaces to create a blank canvas and celebrate the unique features of the building with its curved walls and columns. These elements have flowed into the design with the cabinetry and furniture featuring soft curves. Not content to just push the boundaries, Studio Pacific strived to blow the traditional wood finishes showroom out the water and turn it on its head.
Stunning custom joinery was crafted using our Winter Larch veneer from the Nordus Collection, creating a bold and confident impression when entering the space. The central ‘wall’ of joinery is a masterpiece of design incorporating sample displays, storage, a large kitchen space with integrated Fisher & Paykel appliances and an office space. This has been finished in an ultra-matte Mirotone coating giving a very natural look and feel to the striking grain of the European Larch veneer that has been deep smoked.
The smoked and natural textures also are incorporated into bespoke furniture pieces by Aspect Furniture, using our Smoked Oak prefinished veneer panels from the Shinnoki range. A large board room table and coffee tables have been made from this beautiful natural veneer product and are finished with a shark nose edge with feature black edge tape. For the feature timber flooring, the design team selected our smoked Fendi Oak Herringbone by partners Havwoods. This large-module herringbone block creates a striking geometric pattern.
Studio Pacific specified key products from Archant across the project including all the hardware in Furnipart, Franke sink and Santamargherita stone in the kitchen area. Archant will be joining this shared space in the next few months.
Every step of the customer experience has been combed through in fine detail, from when you enter the space and start with the ‘Story Wall’ through to the panel displays, the product hand samples and places for you to meet in private with your clients to discuss their project. Full kitchen & IT facilities are accessible for our clients, and we will be available as a venue to host industry events
