In September Maxime De Scheemaeker visited us from our valued European brand partner Decospan in Belgium. Decospan are the world-leaders in timber veneers, specialising in innovative veneer products.
Maxime is Decospan’s Export Manager and we are lucky enough to have him visit us twice annually in New Zealand to spend time with us and our key clients, informing us on worldwide trends he observes in his constant travels, and sharing exciting new veneer products being developed.
Maxime’s visit coincided with the launch of our new branding, and the unveiling of our newly refurbished Auckland showroom, so on the 2nd September we held an event with our friends, colleagues and clients within the design industry.
Maxime gave a wonderful and inspirational keynote speech about our shared love and passion for nature and natural materials, the significance and timelessness that timber finishes add to any interior design, the ultimate level of sustainability achieved by using veneer products, and the upcoming trends he recognised at the prestigious 2019 Milan Design Week. These trends included the use of curves, rich textures, and the emerging precedence of earth tones such as terracotta in colour palettes.
The evening was catered by LitteWolf who provided gorgeous grazing platters and tapas. No Ugly provided mocktails served alongside a beautiful selection of New Zealand wines supplied by the Fine Wine Delivery Company, and beer from Hallertau Brewery in Riverhead, so it’s safe to say that Maxime would’ve got a taste of the best from New Zealand
To top it all off, the incredibly talented acoustic guitarist and vocalist David Shanhun entertained us into the evening.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and you can watch the video below for highlights from the evening.
