After 36 years in Covent Garden, Porters – a popular traditional English-style restaurant – resettled in the historic town of Berkhamsted to continue its legacy, with plans to expand nationally. Duncan Gunn and RRA Architects reinterpreted an English restaurant vernacular on the new site. They have used a contrasting colour palette of pastel-coloured leather, mild steel framing, reclaimed teak feature walls, and bronze. Authentic materials and textures reinforce the restaurant’s local and seasonal food philosophy, also celebrated in the prominent kitchen garden. Project courtesy of Havwoods International.
