Hidden down a right-of-way in one of Remuera’s leafy streets is this 1950’s gem.

Schwarz Design were brought into this project from the day the proud owners purchased their dream mid-century modern classic home.

The home had endured a ‘90s makeover with much original detail hidden or lost altogether. The original stairs and steps had been removed and replaced with carpeted chip board, and the original timber floors removed were now grey ceramic tiles.

The starting point for Schwarz Design was creating flow and consistency with VidaSpace engineered timber flooring. The closed in stairs from the dining space to the raised lounge were removed and replaced with a Schwarz Design cantilevered floating stair design.

Levels were linked with the new timber stairs and steps smoothing transition points and creating a seamless floor that embraced the mid-century detailing whether original like the stone wall or new allying the fireplace T&G with original detail in the front entry.

VidaSpace were consulted on the desired look by Schwarz Design throughout the process resulting in the crisp clean lines of this beautifully crafted home.
