After launching our collaborative installation with Kanat Studio (Kate Pilot and Natalia Glucina) for the Auckland Design Week in March 2024, we kept the installation at our Auckland Showroom for clients who visit our showroom to find inspiration.
As a result of this collaboration, we decided to create an immersive art experience together with London St Art Club in August, incorporating the ‘‘Moments in Time’’ message - folding forms, framing, and immersion. We wanted to explore moments in our own lives, of the details that form a memory, of all the elements within and around us that do not get direct attention but are part of the set design of those memories, how they create context and contribute mood and atmosphere. The conscious and unconscious selections of items and finishes within our space that tell a story, using the frames within the exhibit space to focus attention on the materiality and contain the experience.
The evening started with a walk through the installation, taking some photos of the framed objects and silhouettes reflected in the mirrors, which were used for the drawing exercises later. We then did some warmup exercises using the photos taken earlier as a reference to draw abstract forms using chalk and pastels.
We had the pleasure of sharing this experience with the teams from Warren and Mahoney, Ctrl Space, Material Creative, Space Studio, Peddlethorp, Monk Mackenzie, Pac Studio, Home Style Magazine, ArchitectureNow, and of course Kanat Studio.
The evening was complemented with catering from Barulho Parnell, wine from Wine Central, and non-alcoholic drinks from Almighty.
