Douglas Fir is unquestionably beautiful with a unique wavy grain. It is characterised by light brown early growth lines and darker pink late growth lines that contribute to the overall pinky hue. It is also extremely smooth to the touch giving it an exceptional ability to retain finishes such as oils and stains. Douglas Fir when finished with a clear oil gives a reddish-brown look.

Pushing the boundaries of design, wide planks give a modern spacious feel to an interior space. Commonly-used narrow plank flooring offers a more traditional look but often creates a ‘busy’ look and feel.

Wood is a hygroscopic material, which means it naturally takes on and gives off moisture to balance out with its surrounding environment.

Ideally repairing, recoating and installation of your timber floor should be done before the installation of new carpets.

A UV Oil finish consists of multiple layers of hardwax oil, cured under a UV light, rendering it extremely strong. It combines the durability of lacquer, with the natural appearance of oil. This finish is water-repellent, dirt and stain resistant. An easy-care oil option, with the benefit of patch-repairability to minimise the look of scratches and to refreshen dull areas.

On the 17th of January 2022 our team from around the country converged on the Arete Retreat in the Tararua Forest Park to kick of 2022. An event named ’72 Months Young’ pointing to the relative youthfulness of the brand and how far we have come in such a short time, but our focus on where we can take the brand over the coming years.
