Meighan joins VidaSpace as a design consultant and is based in our Wellington Showroom. We asked her about her design inspirations and what she loves about timber.
What do you love about interior design?
I love all mediums of design and how it allows me to express my creativity. There are constantly new trends and ideas to experiment with. It feels amazing when you step into a well-designed space, and they have made everything work so cohesively.
Where have you come from in the industry?
Before I started at VidaSpace I finished two diplomas in floristry and worked in the floristry industry for just over four years. It’s a passion of mine that will last a lifetime and I love that I am still able to work with nature just in a different way.
Who are your design icons?
Growing up in New Plymouth, the artist Len Lye is a big Icon to Taranaki, he has always inspired me growing up. Architects Andrew Patterson and Andrew Mitchell who designed the Len Lye centre also do amazing work themselves. There are so many great designers it’s hard to pick, as they are all so different and inspiring in different aspects of design. My mum is my bigger inspiration and icon as she’s an artist.
What do you love about timber?
I love that there are proven health benefits to having timber incorporated in your home. It’s so robust and versatile in many ways. It brings so much warm to a space and achieving certain looks weather you are wanting a dark and moody area or bright and natural there are always different kinds and ways of achieving this with timber.
What is your favourite VidaSpace product?
